For at least high school studies, we educate kids, as the former President of USA, Mr. Bill Clinton has expressed in his views about the universalizing education so that no child is having the feelings of left behind. The kids have lot to tell, but they lack words that can convey exactly what is their mind and how they feel. What we want to explain may be difficult language for them as well. This conversation in which, we interact to share the thoughts and the feelings need our attention that we enjoy what they express and they can enjoy what we share in the presence of diversification, a need to share and learn from one another, is not it.
The diversification in anything beautifully meets the requirements of learners of almost all ages. There is a very beautiful example where self-study and learning go together. A student learning a Geography lesson about South America may be in the nature of an imaginary trip that the child makes but the scenes on the way promote self-study if child finds the trip interesting.
With Self-study insights, the child will not only want to learn but taking it most as most likely, he will spend extra time in solving problems and accumulating facts about Geography outside the class room. He may not understand that the study of Geography will make him or her intelligent citizen but his or her self-study will make him or her intelligent student to comprehend that foreign lands are populated by interesting people, living interesting lives and having interesting ideas.
Thus self-study skills will make his or her Geography a story that one reads for pleasure. The goal is definite in this case for it is his or her own. However, without self-study and learning skills, the learner will find the goal in daydreaming, getting by, on cheating the teacher on any study-material and related agency of education. So, the self-study and learning skills are two sides of the coin of education, the personality and the self-development.
The childhood is the time when the kids learn at such a high speed and so rapidly that we seem as if trying to chase a cat while running as if an elephant. We know one meaning of what they say, but they have so many ideas and the imaginations about whatever we say that we have to pause to think, rationalize and feel it. When a kid speaks, it feels at the same time, however, when the young person speaks the thinking is more prominent than feeling. For example on hearing a joke, the kids react with all of their body, mind, heart and the soul without caring about the surroundings.
As we grow up our curiosity changes from imaginations to practical experiences. This makes us different from kids as they know in the imaginations and we know in the practical, so we may tend to make them realize the realities of life at the tender age. However, we know it at the same time that we have to secure, promote, and enhance their abilities for all round learning in the childhood, the time when they learning and preparing for high school education, the global need.
